Anchored In Love [Green]
These recordings are an offering of dear respect for a great woman.
Not only was she an accomplished writer, composing a great cross section of music and poetry, all with her inimitable finger print, but she also was a brilliant interpreter of other writer’s creations. This album is a gathering of loved ones, an offering of unrestrained joy and fervor, all in direct praise and exaltation to this simple but brilliant mountain woman. Some things are never misplaced, never removed from the heart and my mother and her music is still within each of these artists; she touched them in a way never to be removed. The profound truth is that no one ever forgot my mother once they came in contact with her... whether as a concert-goer, antique store salesperson, a grocery store attendant or the President of the United States. If you had a chance to cross paths with her, she certainly still holds root in your heart.
In this album, we have tried to make that same impact to the listener, to bring them closer to who my mother was. There are songs here she wrote, and songs she helped to perpetuate singing throughout her life... surely no one sang "Wildwood Flower" or "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" more often within a lifetime than my mother... she made these as much a part of her as one penned by her own hand.
Here, in these recordings, I have found many of her reasons in a voice of resounding volume. It is easily heard: I have only to open my ears to this music and the heart will follow. —John Carter Cash
